"DLS"...My Life is A Mess

Dear Sis,

It's ok. No really, it really is okay. I know that you've been doing everything you possibly can-and nothing is still done- all at the same time. Projects might be piling up, grades are falling, and you just can't get air. Well my dear sister, and my friend, let me remind you of something... You are already doing such a great job. You should be so proud of where you are right now, no matter where that is or if it's not exactly where you want to be. But for right now, let's get out of this mess.

1)Prepare for your Battle

(Joshua 1:9)

Ok, here's what we are going to do. We are going to take a long deep breath-in silence. So if you can, just hop into your room for me really quickly away from distractions. Or! Ever wonder why we always take so much time in the bathroom? Yeah, it's because of things like this. Anywhere that you can have a quiet space, (a car, a break-room, or wherever) set your timer for 3 minutes. We are going to take a moment to decompress and compose ourselves so that we can go out into the world with strength, and dignity, and grace. We are going to be great young women, we are going to do great things and we are going to make someone else's day greater in the process as well.

So part of being able to prepare for your "battle" means we have to make a strategy. If you ever look back and watch movies about battles (idk maybe with your brother or your dad or whatever lol!) they always plan what they're going to

do before they just run into the field-right? What happens if they just go barging in? Most likely, they don't make it out alive. Same thing applies when our lives are just craaaazzzyyy. Maybe you're feeling defeated, maybe it's loneliness...sometimes it can even be just being trapped in your own thoughts. This is the time where we are going to dig down deeper than that and pull the strength from within us. Because guess what? You do have it in you-you are much stronger than you can imagine. (1 Peter 1:13)

2)Know Your limits...

There are two quick parts to this. You have to know the difference between what you can do and what you can't do-and there are so many reasons why. But just diving into these a little bit will help you determine what you can realistically do in this situation. Otherwise, you'll have wasted energy on the wrong thing, and we want to get out of this in the best way that we can.

2a.) What You Can't Do

(Deuteronomy 20:4)

There is nothing wrong with you. Nothing. There are things you are meant to do, and things that you are not meant to do. Know that just because you can't do this, it does not mean that you are "less than" or "not enough". You are perfect for the life that you are meant to live. If things aren't clicking, or just pieces won't fit, then maybe you're supposed to be apart of a different picture. There is nothing wrong with you. Knowing this, you will be able to know where your stopping point is and you will prevent feeling overloaded!

2b.)What You Can Do

(Philippians 4:13)

This is where you can hustle! Take the one thing that you just absolutely excel at- and just run with it!! Do it the absolute best way that you can. Girl this is where you get to shine!! You've totally got this part! After this- Your confidence level is going to go through the roof!! Just make a little saying to yourself when things get hard. Even a simple, "I can do this-I can do this" will help wonders!

No matter what, you can get out of this. It feels overwhelming right now, but it will passss. It will go away. To quote one of my favorite shows, "You can make it through anything if you just count to ten." So in those 10 seconds, dig deep, look for that part of you that wants to keep pushing, and let her out. This applies to anything-that job that will help you earn your car, that audition that's around the corner, or the game that you have been practicing for. These are all in your life right now because you are strong enough to move through them. Nothing is too big for you to handle. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

You've got this.
