Dear Little Sister...Body Confidence Pt.2-(Outfits)

Psalm 139:14

"I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."

Dear Little Sister,

First of all-I wanted to thank you all SO MUCH for the overwhelming amount of support with our first post in this series! I knew that we all had a story, but I was so blessed to find how receptive you all were with mine. I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR YOURS!

Anyway! What's next?? Well my dear, whether you've mastered all of the overwhelming thoughts that can happen in your mind, or you can't seem to drown them out, I find that the best way to fight sadness is to CELEBRATE! And let's be honest, is there a better way to celebrate than to have a complete makeover? NO! Haha ok, I'm sure there is...But this one is really fun. ;D

So this is the part where we get to figure out what looks best on our bodies! We get to share outfit ideas! Here are some staples that I always keep in my closet! Let me know if you have any more suggestions!

1)High Waisted

TOTAL BEST FRIEND OF ANY GIRL! You would think that this would draw attention to your tummy, but actually-it hides it! It's a revolution! Whether it's jeans, shorts, or even a skirt, high waisted bottoms give you a sleeker, smoother, silhouette while leaving you comfortable throughout the day.

Anyone who knows me, knows I live in dresses-ESPECIALLY in the summer time!! These little gems are comfortable and give the illusion of a well put together look without the hassle!

TIP: When looking for a sundress, look for something with definition at the waist to help draw attention to your hourglass figure!

3)Shape over Size

To quote the great Jeannie Mai, "It's about shape, not size." Do not worry about what size it says on the sticker. Just because you don't fit into a 2 when you're a 14 doesn't mean that you are not gorgeous. Just because you are a 00 when you want to be a 4 or a 6, doesn't make you any less of a young woman either.

Look for trends that flatter your features! If you're not sure what body type you have-that's ok! Just think of proportions. If you have a flowy top, wear something more fitted on the bottom! If you have a fitted top, you'll want to wear a looser bottom!

You can always uses belt or tie a shirt in the middle to create an hourglass silhouette!

Tip:Try pairing your favorite new outfit with shoes that give a little height. Whether its heels, wedges, or even a kitten heel(tiny heel), it forces you to stand taller which helps you appear longer and leaner! My favorites are these black booties(boots that cut off at the ankle) They look amazing with jeans or dresses and give a really cool easy edge to everything in my closet!

4)Cold Shoulders

These are my faaaaavorites this summer! A cold shoulder is a dress/top that has sleeves, but the shoulders give a little peek-a-boo! These are incredibly feminine and give a very graceful finish to a look. You will definitely feel your best while still remaining classy and in school dress code!

Tip: If cold shoulders aren't your thing, and you'd like to stick to something more comfortable, you can always pair your outfits with a cute accessory! Try a necklace, earrings, or even a cute purse!

5)The Plain White T

This looks good with EVERYTHING! Whether it is a skirt or a classic pair of jeans, a plain white t looks wonderful all year round. This is definitely the one to ALWAYS have in your closet! It will never go out of style.

Tip: Try this look with a colored lip! If you even change to wearing a colored lip gloss it gives the look an amazing feel!If lip gloss is too much-try it with a colored necklace, earrings or bracelets! Classic with a twist!

Which one is YOUR favorite?? And what is something new you'd like to try?? I would LOVE to hear about what trends and styles that YOU love!! Look out for Pt.3 in our Body Confidence series!! Use the hashtag #bigsisterstyle to share your favorite look!!

Don't forget to walk tall!!! Strut gorgeous-strut!

Lol I know I'm a little silly but don't be afraid to be silly too 😉😘

Your Big Sister
