Hi guys!! Oh my gosh y'all were so sweet to ask me how "Teen Fashion Week" was! I have to say I can not belieeeeeve all of the things we have achieved this year! Look at us making goals and watching them come true! You and I have some amazing things coming our way, because we believe that we have amazing things to offer the world.
I had so many expectations for Dallas' Teen Event and I was pleasantly surprised! There was creativity, professionalism and over-all great fun. I can't wait to show you what I learned from this year!
1)Don't be Afraid to Stand Out
Did you know originally I was just going to go with a plain simple dress? Until I realized-hey! Where's the fun in that? There's nothing wrong with allowing people to see you. I had a message to share, and I couldn't do that by being afraid. So I chose the biggest brightest thing in my closet, and I had a blast! You have something important too Hun-don't be afraid to share it.
Tip:Allow yourself just once to wear something bold. As long as it is appropriate, you'll never know until you try! Remember-you are WONDERFULLY made!
2)Kindness goes a Long Way
This incredibly talented group stayed with me in my heart for days. Not just because of their incredible talent, but because of their hospitality and kindness. I passed by a few of them periodically through the night and every time they had something nice to say and spoke to me with such respect!
I felt like such a proud Big Sister watching their performance. They used their gift of dance and performance to bring awareness to domestic abuse(which is when someone is hurting their partner in a relationship). They told a beautiful story of how everyone deserves to be loved and I was so honored to watch them perform.
3)Always Be Prepared
If you told me that I was going to be interviewed---I actually would've been excited! I chose to go into the event prepared with a quick speech on who I was, what I was representing and how people could contact me. It is so important to be ready. Take a few moments to strategize before a big event so that you feel your most confident!
4)Age is just a Number
I met so many wonderful and kind people at this event. Everyone was just excited to share their gifts and talents. Here (above) I met this gorgeous young woman who has a natural talent for modeling!
I also met an outstanding star. I would love to introduce you to a new member of our family--Serenity Hughes!! Serenity is an up and coming fashion designer. And guess what-she's only 12 years old!! Idk, should we have her on a podcast?? Let me know what you think below!
5)2 is always better than 1
Of course I had Jojo with me!! Never forget, your true friends always have your back!!! We had a great time! Did you see us there?
Tip: if ever you're nervous to go somewhere, bring your best buddy! You'll have a great time no matter what!
Girls you can do ANYTHING! Really truly anything. People will try to stand in your way. But I know, and I think you know, that with God-we kind of have a mission to fill. So let's do it!!
Let me know who is YOUR favorite fashion icon! Btw---speaking of fashion...OUR SHIRTS ARE COMING! Send me an email if you would like to see the samples in advance or reserve one before they're released!
Don't be afraid to stand out!
Your Big Sister
