Hi guys!!! Okay, so if there's one question I am asked all the time, it's "How are you so positive all of the time?!" And honestly, it all came from things I've learned as a kid! I hope these tips help you on your journey. Let's get started!!
1) Thankful Heart over a Happy Heart
Okay-who here watched Veggietales as a kid?
Yeeesss!!! Ok see we're totally about to be on the same page!
So do you remember hearing this phrase? "A thankful heart is a happy heart." (If not, tonight you're watching Madame Blueberry). Well, this song stuck in my head yearssss longer than the average little one who heard it. And as I got older and sad moments started to creep in, I found myself singing this song as like a "positive reflex." I found that each time after I'd sing the full song I was genuinely happy the whole day! So what does that even mean?
I learned the difference between a happy heart and a thankfulheart. A happy heart is only okay when it gets what it wants. A thankful heart stays happy even when everything is wrong. The secret-is it knows that there are so many things to be thankful for, so why sweat the small stuff?
2)Admit When You're Not Happy
Now I know this may seem a little backwards, but this honestly helps me. You know when you're feeling sad, or upset, or just over all bleh and your friends ask "Are you okay?" Ever respond with "Yeah...I'm fine." Yeaaaahhhh that's definitely a habit I've tried to break. If you're not happy, it's okay! Your feelings are there for a reason-it's your heart trying to tell your head something!
The problem comes when you try to ignore them. If you push feelings aside, you can start to feel a "fake" happiness, which really isn't happiness at all now is it? We want you to feel true happiness, not just "eh" right? So the sooner you admit you're not happy, the sooner you can find what's wrong, fix it, and become REALLY happy!
3)Spend Time Alone with Yourself
This may seem a little weird but the easiest to keep up once you've started. Have you ever sat down with yourself for a good old talk before? You have to quiet the noise to hear your own voice. Try it first thing in the morning or right before you sleep! You may become your own best friend!
Tip: Try playing soothing calm music that's positive! Y'all know I love Dan Gibson. He composes instrumental music and adds nature sounds to it! It's an instant camp out without needing bug spray!
4)Check Your Environment
Are you in bright or warm lighting? Are you playing positive music? Have you been in the house all day? Switch things up! Add some light to the room and that can instantly change your mood! You would be surprised at what can happen when you change your space!
5) Never Do it All on Your Own
It is AMAZING that you can do all of the things you're doing!! I am so incredibly proud of you for that! But sweetheart, you know you don't have to do it all right? Please know that even if you were to stop doing all of them tomorrow-I would still be proud of you. You are not even measured by the things you do. Crazy right?! Hun there are people all around you that want to show they love you! Don't be afraid to let them in . You never know what a dynamic team you may become!
6) Look Forward
Your days are not over. Your life is not over. If you are not happy or messed up, you can try again tomorrow! I am so proud of you, and you have incredible things coming. It's like Pochahontas! She knows there's something coming around the river end right? (You know I couldn't resist a Disney simile.) And yes it was hard for a moment but she had incredible moments that helped her grow-and so will you. Keep your chin up, and know that something good is always coming your way around the riverbend.
You can even borrow my canoe! Or we'll just rent a boat haha!
