Sometimes you just need some good in your day, am I right?
(Mia Roberti-Left/Leila Roberti-Right)
God gives us wonderful things in this world that we shouldn’t take for granted. These six things will fill your hearts with joy and let your worries drift away.
1.Listen to Music
Some songs just make you want to dance and laugh. I LOVE those songs because you can just have some fun and forget about the bad things. Here’s a few songs that make me feel this way:
The whole entire album of Speak Now by Taylor Swift (lol)
“Ready or Not” By Britt Nicole (featuring Lecrae)
“Falling Into You” by Hillsong Young and Free
2.Spend Time with your Furry Friend (If you have one)
Did you know that if you own a dog, your stress levels and blood pressure goes down? They also make you happy, that’s for sure! Animals are a gift from God that we should be thankful for.
Sometimes, you just need to settle down and spend some time with one of your parents or siblings, or maybe even your whole family. Get off of your devices and play good ol’ Uno, or just simply watch a tv show with them. When I spend time with my cousins, we all go outside and play baseball or football. Any family time activity will do!
It can make you feel happy when you make others happy. Isn’t it amazing to see the smile on someone’s face when you did something randomly kind? Last year, my brother’s former theatre teacher that me and my family dearly love was diagnosed with cancer. One weekend, my sister and I decided that we should do a lemonade stand to raise money for him. We gave the money in a pretty jar and told him about the money we raised. Tears ran down his face, not because of the money, but because of the generosity and thought put behind it. It didn’t only make his day, let alone week, but it also made ours.
What really makes me joyful is to serve as a small group leader at my church. Just to see the love the kids have for God makes me love Him even more. In Hebrews 6:10, it says this: God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. What it’s basically saying is that serving others not only impacts others, but it also impacts you.
6.Connect With a Small Group
You never know what loyalty, understanding, empathy, and encouragement means until you have a small group. I went from never wanting to go to church, to wanting to go to church every Sunday, just because of my small group. If you are hurt, sad, or just having a bad day, they got you. Shoutout to Imani and the stage squad!!! (Thank you for all the fun times, the encouragement for each other, and being awesome!)
I challenge you to try at least one of these things that you don’t normally do. Being joyful is not only a personality trait that people like, but people will see you as a child of God and the passion you have for Him.
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again- rejoice!
